Contact Lenses

The doctors of Advanced Eyecare/Blue Springs Optical are trained to fit lenses based on the prescription and needs of the patient.

Spherical lenses are single-power contact lenses used to correct near-sightedness or far-sightedness.

Some patients have astigmatism, a condition in which the eye cannot focus light to a single point. Toric lenses may be used to bring an image into clear focus.

For patients over 40 who have difficulty focusing to read fine print, multifocal lenses or monovision may be used. Multifocal lenses can provide a person with better vision than a single-focus lens by having both the distance image and near image be in focus at the same time. Monovision works by focusing the dominant eye at distance while shifting the non-dominant eye to be focused at near. Both these techniques strive to bring clearer focus at distance for driving, intermediate range for computer work and near for reading.

Make sure you know how often you should replace your contact lenses. There are daily, biweekly, monthly, quarterly and yearly disposable contacts. Not replacing them appropriately can lead to serious adverse reactions like eye infections or eye ulcers, some of which can cause permanent vision problems.

Replace your case every 3 months!
